They're dangerous things, traffic lights.
Here's a bit of history for you. The first traffic lights were installed outside the Houses of Parliament in 1868. Three weeks later they exploded, injuring the policeman who had been operating them.
And now Margaret King has identified another serious problem with these devices: How can people with red-green colour blindness possibly know which colour is being displayed? This is a disaster waiting to happen. Approximately 8% of UK males are colour-blind. That means there are over one and a half million car drivers who are completely unable to understand the signals from traffic lights.
Something must be done. We need to get those colour-blind drivers off the roads immediately.
